The IT department at Allen & Overy is responsible for the smooth operations of all IT services supporting the business, among which document management, messaging and telecommunications play a prominent role. The department will also stay close to the end-users to understand business requirements and deliver solutions fitting these needs accurately. In addition, the IT team is responsible for delivering training to all A&O staff, thus allowing end-users to make the most of our systems and work both efficiently and effectively.
We recruit significant numbers of legal PAs into all areas of Allen & Overy. As well as employing PAs with legal knowledge, we actively seek PAs from many other industries, including banking, finance, insurance and accountancy firms.

Library and Information
Some 70 information professionals and library administrators work within our Global Library Service and practice groups. Roles reflect the global environment and individual expertise and include research, collection management, training, finance management, current awareness, systems development and project management.

As a paralegal with us, you will play an instrumental role in the mechanics of the legal process. Although the role varies according to department, you will form an important part of the team. Your main focus will be to deliver a first class service to them as your internal clients, and thereby gain a valuable insight into the workings of a large legal practice.
Depending on the position, formal paralegal qualifications are necessary but you should be able to demonstrate strong legal skills, good attention to detail, enthusiasm and self-motivation in the face of what can sometimes be fairly routine work.
Our U.S. offices
In November 1985, we opened our New York office, which has grown to be the principal hub of our U.S. practice. The office, situated in the heart of midtown Manhattan, offers easy access to some of the world’s most recognizable destinations.
In June 2011, our Washington, D.C. office opened, bolstering our leading U.S. Regulatory practice. Since then, the office has grown to include a top tier white-collar litigation and investigations team as well as financial services regulatory lawyers. It also includes Band 1 ranked project finance and energy team, as well as the premiere team of renewable energy lawyers in the US. In addition, the office is home to a team of arbitration lawyers who handle complex matters around the globe, with a particular focus on Latin America. In 2021, the office welcomed a renowned intellectual property litigation team. The office is located near the Metro Center station, just a few blocks north of the heart of Pennsylvania Avenue.
In March 2021, we opened our first office on the west coast in Los Angeles, with a renewables practice, boosting the firm’s leading Projects, Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure practice. In August 2022, we opened our second office on the west coast, in the ‘tech hub of the world’ Silicon Valley, significantly enhancing our leading Technology practice.
In March 2022, we announced the expansion of our life sciences Intellectual Property Litigation practice with five new U.S. partners and launch of our presence in Boston. All of our U.S. offices provide a broad range of sophisticated legal services, while being fully integrated within our global network.
