What to expect during our selection process.
Vacation scheme
Our summer vacation scheme is held between June and September each year. For each placement we offer 30 students the opportunity to spend four weeks with us. This is an invaluable introduction to everyday life in an international legal practice.
In addition to full involvement with everyday aspects of work in the particular practice area, students can look forward to a variety of social activities and networking opportunities..
You can apply for our vacation placement scheme between September and January on our website under reference Student-Speculative.
We do not have a vacation placement scheme in winter.
What we look for
We look for the same skill set in each of our practice areas. In all cases, you should:
- Have a strong academic record
- Have a commercial approach
- Want to have a long-term legal career
- Be able to think laterally
- Be pragmatic and well organized
- Be able to adapt to different cultural settings
We especially look for bilingual or trilingual students, French and English are mandatory, German can be an asset within some departments.
If you attend the Cours complémentaires en Droit Luxembourgeois, you’ll receive half of the compensation while going to the classes. If you pass the Cours complémentaires en Droit Luxembourgeois at the first attempt, we’ll refund the registration fee and offer one week's holiday after the exams.
Working environment

Allen & Overy Luxembourg has a Comité des fêtes elected on a two-year basis, that organises various events during the year, such as the Christmas party, the family day, the ski weekend and many other events.
Events
Allen & Overy SCS will be participating in and running a number of virtual and online events for the 2020-2021 academic year. Our events are a great way to meet A&O representatives and to gain an insight into the firm, our culture and the work we do.
