With over 1,000 lawyers worldwide, we have one of the largest and most international teams of banking and finance lawyers of any global law firm. In Tokyo, we have a high calibre of banking and finance lawyers who continue to provide clients with advice across the full range of transactional banking and finance work, including leveraged and acquisition finance, syndicated lending, project finance, asset finance, trade and export finance, and restructuring. We have a strong track record in advising on credit facilities and syndicated and mezzanine loans.
Corporate and M&A
With both international and Japanese law capability, we are often the first port of call for domestic and foreign companies seeking assistance on cross-border transactions. With the majority of our work being outbound, we work closely with our global network of 700 corporate lawyers worldwide.
Recognized as a Tier 1 Corporate and M&A practice, we advise on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, disposals and general commercial and regulatory matters for a range of clients across a variety of sectors including: financial services, energy and infrastructure, automotive, pharmaceutical, consumer, and food and beverage sectors.
Projects, Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure (PENRI)
As a key part of Allen & Overy’s global Projects Group, in Tokyo, we field a high calibre of lawyers who provide clients with advice across the full range of project development, project finance, trade and export finance and brownfield projects M&A. Recognized as a Tier 1 projects practice in Japan by all of the major legal directories, the team advises a broad spectrum of leading Japanese and international financial institutions, funds, multilateral agencies, development finance institutions, export credit agencies, international bodies, sponsors and borrowers across the Asia Pacific region and globally.
We are pre-eminent in the project financing market for developing innovative and first in market solutions for our clients. We often incorporate complex financing techniques that lead the industry in the sectors of: oil & gas; LNG, all areas of power projects including conventional and renewable energy; infrastructure and transport; and in all sectors of natural resources with a particular focus on mining.

Allen & Overy's Tokyo office is located on 38th floor of Roppongi Hills building complex, one of the landmarks in central Tokyo.
Roppongi Hills offers easy access to tube lines and JR lines. There are many shops and restaurants, a cinema, museum, banks, post office and clinics inside the complex and around the building. The area has a lively atmosphere
