What: A three months long paid internship programme with the possibility to extend for another period

For who: For ambitious students with:

  • at least four completed semesters of law studies; and
  • excellent written and spoken English.

Internship Program periods:

  • September – December
  • February – April
  • June-August

The exact application window for each actual period will be indicated under the “Find a vacancy” link in due course.

Main features of our Program:

Working hours

20 hours per week. Your work schedule will be adjusted to your studies.

Integrated induction programme

Two-day programme during which you will learn about our policies, tools, systems and working standards.

Mentoring

Our lawyers are very helpful and they will support you during your time with us. They will help you adapt to our company and get to know our working environment.

Merit-related tasks

You are at the beginning of your legal career and it is very important for you to get to know the work standards of A&O lawyers. During the internship, you will have an opportunity to work in a dynamic work environment with different lawyers on various transactions and to be part of a leading international law firm.

Feedback

We know that feedback plays a very important role in your development. This is why we will organise a feedback meeting once a month during which we will discuss your signature strengths, but also your development needs. It is bilateral feedback, where you can also share your thoughts with us.

You will be required to submit your application by e-mail to allenoverybudapest@allenovery.com. Please attach your CV and, optionally, a cover letter in English.

Our recruitment process consists of:

  • an in-person translation or comprehension exercise; and
  • an interview with two of our lawyers where, in addition to general questions about yourself, you will be asked a series of questions based on scenarios you may encounter as an intern.

We will review your performance across both the exercise and the interview and aim to get back to you with a decision as quickly as possible. Regardless of the outcome, we are committed to providing constructive feedback on your interview performance.

Working environment

Allen & Overy’s Budapest office is located in the HillSide Office Building in a vibrant working environment and living area of Buda. The building was constructed in the spirit of green awareness, [a move towards] meeting our aim to decrease our carbon footprint.

Our new offices reflect our aspiration to create a new innovative space for our clients and staff.

Both the working areas and the client rooms are equipped with state of the art technology that provides immediate and smooth connection with people all around the world.

We strive to make our workplaces environmentally sustainable by using energy- and water-saving technology.
