Business Development

The Business Development (BD) Team helps to achieve Allen & Overy's business objectives, nurture client relationships, as well as win new clients. In doing this, we maintain Allen & Overy's position as a leading law firm on the international stage. The BD Department operates from our global and regional offices. In broad terms, the business development team:

  • Drafts pitch documents and presentations;
  • Manages the firm’s key client relationship and targeting programmes; 
  • Undertakes research on companies, industries, sectors and countries;
  • Manages relationships with the media and PR campaigns;
  • Prepares submissions to the global legal directories; and
  • Ensures that the firm is seen, internally and externally (through intranet, internet, brochures, publications, e-bulletins), as a world-class law firm.
Business Services

Business Services

The Business Services department at Allen & Overy is responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of the China offices. Our business services professionals are the ones running the offices behind the scenes. They make sure that legal PAs are well trained and the legal staff are properly supported, the local regulatory requirements are met, the offices maintain A&O’s signature look, office social events are well organised, and staff relocations are smoothly arranged. They look after all the details that result in A&O presenting a professional image to the outside world.

Allen & Overy's continuing success in China rests on us recruiting, retaining and developing the very best talent. The Human Resources function is devoted to achieve this. 

The Human Resources team in China is part of a larger global team. With Allen & Overy's global strategies and initiatives, we are dealing with our colleagues from around the world. We share our ideas and information, and combine our resources and develop our knowledge together.

Within the team, there are opportunities to be involved in broader HR themes or specialise in a specific HR discipline. The work is challenging, and standards and expectations are high.
Professional and Support Lawyers

Professional and Support Lawyers

The PSL role is regarded as "lawyer plus" role. Excellent technical skills are essential, but we look for confidence, innovation and an aptitude for project and people management. In return, Allen & Overy provides a challenging and rewarding work environment with opportunities to further develop skills and career.

The Social Committee frequently plans a variety of events including movie nights, cooking classes, bowling nights and cruise trips.
