Women on top – celebrating #SuccessfulWomen

Browse this blog post

Getting women into senior positions is commercially savvy. Nowadays this is the received wisdom from the great and the good. Even last week’s report from the House of Commons Treasury Committee on Women in Finance cited McKinsey evidence from their report Diversity Matters of the “statistically significant relationship between a more diverse leadership team and better financial performance”.

So when a woman does reach the top, it is definitely worth celebrating. It gives me great pleasure therefore to “big up” our own Karen Seward, who has just been awarded Outstanding Practitioner of the Year 2018 at Euromoney’s Women in Business Law Awards. This award celebrates women who have been consistently recognised as leaders in their field over a significant period of time and who have taken on senior management roles and continue to practise in their chosen field. The winner is chosen by peers and experts in the market.

Karen was appointed Global Head of Litigation at A&O in May 2018. On taking up the role, Karen said:Karen Seward

“This role allows me to bring new ideas to the table; it’s a platform to advance our diversity and inclusion aspirations in every way. Improved diversity is a game changer, for the industry, for our clients and for society as a whole."

Three cheers for Karen!
