Community impact

We are committed to supporting the communities where we live by providing volunteers and funding for community projects. We encourage our colleagues to get involved in social impact work. Collectively, our focus areas are access to education, access to employment and supporting local communities.

Access to education

We support mentoring, job shadowing skills workshops, bursaries, school supply drives, and career days.

  • Public legal education – our long-term London partnership with Young Citizens promotes legal education in schools, ensuring more young people learn about the law and the legal sector. In the U.S., we have been long-standing supporters of Street Law, a legal and civics education program for secondary school students.
  • Helping primary school children – we work with two primary schools in London to provide additional support for their students, such as delivering financial literacy workshops and acting as reading partners.
  • Providing educational bursaries – many of our offices provide bursaries to help students from underprivileged or underserved areas. This includes our Perth office, which funds an A&O Shearman Ngoolark Bursary for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
