Pien is Head of Netherlands Financial Services Regulatory.

Pien is a well-recognized all-round specialist in the financial regulatory field, with an outstanding reputation in the Dutch financial institutions sector. Pien advises insurers, banks, asset managers, investment firms, market infrastructure providers, FinTech companies and other financial institutions in relation to strategic regulatory projects. She has extensive experience in advising Dutch and foreign insurers, banks and other financial institutions on the Dutch financial regulatory aspects applicable to their business in the Netherlands as well as on the organisational and conduct of business rules applicable to their activities.

Pien advised on several major regulatory matters related to Brexit, including on greenfield licensing procedures for banks, investment firms, and other financial institutions, as well as on the provision of cross-border financial services. Pien also has a significant experience in advising Dutch and foreign clients in M&A transactions in the financial sector, notably on the regulatory procedures and contacts with the regulators.

Pien helps her clients navigate smoothly through the ever evolving web of Dutch and European regulatory law Due to her knowledge and experience, analytical skills whilst maintaining a practical approach, Pien is seen by her clients as a valuable advisor and sparring partner. Since April 2020, Pien is a fellow of the International Center for Financial law and Governance, a research center of the Erasmus School of Law. Pien also regularly lectures on financial regulatory topics.
