Mike Campbell

Senior Associate

Mike is a senior projects, energy and infrastructure lawyer in Dubai and has been based in the Middle East since he relocated from the firm's London office in 2017.

He has wide-ranging experience of project and infrastructure financings and refinancings in EMEA and has advised sponsors, lenders and procurers across a wide range of assets in the energy, infrastructure and industrial sectors. He has particular expertise in project development and finance of large-scale energy projects in the GCC.

Mike also has valuable experience of developing legaltech solutions to client problems and led a team which developed an AI-assisted Covid-19 contract review platform which was ‘highly commended’ in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Report.

Mike has spent time on secondment to 3i’s infrastructure investment team where he worked on a range of transactions including acquisitions, disposals, refinancings and fundraisings. He also has experience of acting in the CIS region, having previously spent time in the firm's Moscow office.

Representative matters

An international energy company on the USD11 billion development and financing of a petrochemical expansion project in Saudi Arabia. 

A national oil company on the raising of several billion dollars of ECA covered, commercial and Islamic finance in connection with the development of an expansion petrochemical project in the UAE. 

Various national oil companies in the GCC on the development and financing of around 9GW of renewable energy in a series of greenfield transactions. 

Duqm Refineries & Petrochemical Industries Company LLC (DRPIC) a joint venture company established by Oman Oil Company and Kuwait Petroleum International, in relation to its USD9bn refinery project in Oman.
