Michael is a tax lawyer and tax advisor (Steuerberater) and has specialised tax experience in advising mergers & acquisitions and (re-)financing transactions, in particular as regards domestic and international M&A, private equity, acquisition financing, capital markets and real estate transactions. 

His recent experience includes inter alia advising TH Real Estate in relation to a real estate joint venture with Scandinavian pension funds as well as in relation to a joint venture with a project developer; UBS Deutschland in relation to the transfer of all shares in UBS Deutschland to UBS Switzerland, Citibank in relation to its disposal of the retail banking business to Crédit Mutuel, Helaba Invest in relation to the set-up of a real estate investment platform, the Royal Bank of Scotland on its global restructuring and in particular the cross-border integration of ABN Amro branches/subsidiaries and on on-going tax advice; a Chinese investor regarding its equity investment in Berliner Potsdamer Platz Quartier (formerly Daimler Quartier) in a joint venture; Terra Firma and the infrastructure investment business of Deutsche Bank, RREEF, supervised by Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management, on the sale of Germany’s leading motorway service operator Tank & Rast for a consideration of €3.9bn; BNP Paribas Fortis, ING Bank and Rabobank on the acquisition financing for the purchase of some European subsidiaries and production facilities of Campbell’s Soups by CVC Capital Partners Ltd.
