Gijs has experience in a wide range of private M&A transactions and related commercial agreements. His focus is on managing major complex, carve-out and cross border transactions.

Gijs' work includes advising clients on private acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, private equity deals, distressed acquisitions and disposals and restructurings. Gijs has a diverse client base including large corporates (Jumbo Supermarkten, Royal KPN, Wolters Kluwer), private equity (Avedon Capital Partners) and family offices (Infestos, Strikwerda Investments).

Noteworthy experience includes advising:

  • Van Gansewinkel on its EUR482m merger with Renewi.
  • Royal KPN on various transactions, including the EUR5 billion sale of its German mobile unit E-Plus to Telefonica Deutschland, the EUR1.3 billion sale of BASE Company to Telenet and the sale of the US-based subsidiary iBasis Inc. to Tofane Global.
  • Strikwerda Investments on various transactions, including on a combination of acquisitions to create Total Webhosting Solutions, acquisitions to create Total Hosting Solutions and the acquisition of S-P-S International.
  • Avedon Capital Partners on various transactions, including the acquisition of Brand Masters, the sale of Robidus to Aegon, the divestment of VanRiet to Material Handling Systems, Inc. and the acquisitions of VisionsConnected and Viju to create Kinly.
  • Foppen Holding on its sale to H2 Equity Partners.
  • The family shareholders of Royal Agio Cigars on the EUR210m sale to Scandinavian Tobacco Group.
  • Telegraaf Media Groep on its strategic partnership with Talpa on radio, TV and OTT and the setting up of the joint venture to combine their radio activities.
