Brendan specialises in the aviation sector, and regularly acts for lessors, airlines, ECAs, banks and financial institutions across a wide range of transformational debt financing, leasing, portfolio sales and acquisition, sale and leaseback, securitisation, ECA backed, and restructuring transactions. 
Brendan also has extensive experience in the shipping sector advising lenders on a wide range of debt facilities, including revolving credit facilities, ECA supported transactions, JOLCOs, and syndicated vessel financings. Brendan is described by clients as ‘excellent’ and ‘always available, helpful and has good technical knowledge.

Representative matters

Virgin Atlantic Airways on the ground breaking first restructuring plan under Part 26A of the UK Companies Act that was introduced into UK law on 26 June 2020 together with its subsequent financings.

Bpifrance in connection with the ECA-supported financing of the Emirates fleet of A380 aircraft.

Bpifrance and SACE in connection with NAC’s Irish restructuring process and subsequent chapter 11 process which affected a portfolio of 31 ECA supported NAC aircraft. A&O advised the ECAs on the restructuring of the NAC group which commenced in April 2020. This involved advising on all aspects of the proposed restructuring plan and negotiating on behalf of the ECAs with NAC and its other creditors.

A major operating lessor on the portfolio sale of 18 Airbus and Boeing aircraft leased to 11 different airlines.
