Webinar: European Green Deal – changes to look out for and impact of Covid-19 on timeline

Environmental issues, and in particular climate change, remain high on the agenda as Europe and other regions seek to "build back greener" in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. This webinar focused on the European Green Deal, including the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the timetable for the deal, and what companies can expect across Europe over the next 12 to 18 months.

Alongside the recovery plan recently approved by EU leaders, the European Commission's Green Deal offers a significant programme of environmental reform for the next decade. The deal covers a wide range of areas including:

  • the proposed carbon border adjustment mechanism;
  • circular economy action plan;
  • reformed chemicals regime; and
  • a widening of environmental disclosure requirements.

Several key communications and legislative proposals have already been published by the Commission under its Green Deal framework, with many more expected in the coming months.

Our panel discussed the interplay of these developments alongside the raft of regulatory change proposed through the renewed finance action plan.
