Allen & Overy advises Ørsted in purchase of 302 MW onshore wind farm

Allen & Overy advised Ørsted in the acquisition of Lincoln Land Wind, a 302 MW onshore wind farm in Morgan County, Illinois, from Ares Management. This transaction also includes the acquisitions of Lincoln Land Wind’s long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) with Meta, formerly Facebook, and McDonald’s Corporation for 175 MW and 126 MW, respectively.

Under Ørsted’s ownership, Lincoln Land Wind is expected to reach 17.5 GW by 2030 and deliver approximately 1.5 GW of additional capacity annually. The acquisition of Lincoln Land Wind brings Ørsted’s total U.S. capacity to over 4,200 MW in operation and under construction.

A&O partner Andrea Lucan said, “We’re pleased to have advised Ørsted in its acquisition of Lincoln Land Wind as the company continues to expand its footprint in the U.S. via both organic growth opportunities and strategic acquisitions in new markets. Through Ørsted’s PPAs with Meta and McDonald’s, the transaction supported several companies in their decarbonization journeys. A&O is proud to support clients in their efforts to accelerate energy transition and meet their renewable energy priorities.”

Led by Andrea Lucan in Los Angeles, the A&O deal team also included partners Sam Kamyans, Simon Clark, Ken Rivlin and Elaine Johnston, as well as associates Kuang Chiang, Simon Hayes, Sam Guthrie, Will Davis, Divya Rao and Michael Sykes.
