Allen & Overy has worked with the African Legal Support Facility to advise the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia on a joint venture with Climate Fund Managers, a Dutch for-profit investment manager, to undertake investments into commercially viable green hydrogen initiatives through a newly established fund, SDG Namibia One.
The project is yet another significant step forward for the Government of Namibia as part of the Harambee Property Plan II (HPPII) to realise the potential of the transformative green hydrogen sector for the benefit of the Namibian population.
SDG Namibia One is a bespoke blended financing infrastructure fund, which will look to raise money from local and international institutional investors to develop Namibian green hydrogen projects and related infrastructure.
Led by funds & asset management partner MaameYaa Kwafo-Akoto (London), the team of Allen & Overy lawyers advising on the project included funds & asset management consultant Pavel Shevtsov (London) and senior associate Karen Boadu (London), projects senior associate Chinedu Ihenetu-Geoffrey (London) and trainee Moni Owoade (London).
