Allen & Overy has advised Douwe Egberts Master Blenders on the merger of its coffee business with that of the Mondelez Group.
The two companies had agreed to merge their respective coffee businesses in May 2014 and since engaged in extensive preparations for the combination of their businesses, which has now been completed. As the owner of the Senseo and Jacobs trademarks, the combined business trading under the name of Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) will be one of the largest coffee producers worldwide.

The Allen & Overy team advising on the reorganisation of the German Douwe Egberts Group and its combination with the German coffee business of the Mondalez Group comprised partner Dr. Hartmut Krause, senior associate Alexander Wüpper and associate Dr. Marcus Heinrich (all Corporate/M&A, Frankfurt) as well as partner Dr. Jochen Scheel and senior associate Dr. Christoph Börskens on real estate issues (both Real Estate, Frankfurt).
