A&O annual results: A good year driven by strong M&A, capital and lending markets and the US

Allen & Overy is delighted to announce the appointment of Lucy Murphy as its Global Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. Lucy will join the firm in July, after 12 years at Freshfields - the latter six as Chief Marketing Officer - and will replace Allen & Overy's highly regarded Global CMO, Richard Grove, who is retiring from the firm after nearly 14 years.

Gareth Price, Allen & Overy’s Managing Partner, comments: “We are absolutely thrilled to bring Lucy to our firm. She is widely recognised as a leader in her field and combines huge experience with a fantastic record of delivery and strategic focus that is immensely valuable. I am very confident that she will play a key part in helping to deliver on our ambitious vision for the firm. I would also like to thank Richard Grove for everything he has done for the firm over the last 14 years and wish him all the best for the future.”

Lucy, who prior to joining Freshfields held senior roles at Linklaters says, “Allen & Overy is an outstanding firm with an enviable brand and I’m excited to be sitting on the firm’s Executive Committee, working with the partnership and the Marketing team to help drive the delivery of A&O's global strategy. I would though also like to thank Freshfields for my time at the firm and wish them all the best for the future.”

“There are significant opportunities and challenges coming out of the pandemic, as well as the new geo-political landscape,” Gareth adds. “The continued collaboration of our partners and our Marketing team will be central to maintaining and growing our market position over the coming years, building on the excellent work Richard Grove has done. I look forward very much to working with Lucy when she arrives in the summer.”
