The Metaverse

The Metaverse combines aspects of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality. It is a new way of connecting with other people and conducting business. But like every digital technology in its infancy, how it is being used is open to debate. How does the law operate in this new virtual space? Can regulation be effective in mitigating online harms when identifying the parties is complex and uncertain? What crimes can be committed in the Metaverse?

In the course of our work, we consider all of these questions and more.  We are guiding clients through the complex legal issues emerging in the new digital worlds of the metaverse, especially in relation to intellectual property, privacy, data security and anti-trust law.

Here, we’ll keep you informed of the key developments involving the Metaverse.
