Laura Burton

Associate

Laura is an Associate in the Litigation and Investigations Group in London. Laura transferred to Allen & Overy’s London office from the Asia-Pacific Litigation Group in 2022.

Laura advises on a range of contentious matters, with a focus on general commercial litigation (in particular, complex contractual disputes and director and shareholder disputes) and representative/collective proceedings on both the applicant and defendant side. More recently, Laura’s practice has also focused on antitrust litigation, in defending a number of large-scale, antitrust damages actions both in the UK and Australia.

Before arriving in London in 2022, she had experience acting in matters before the Supreme Courts of New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, and both the Federal Court and High Court of Australia.

A major cryptocurrency exchange in defending an application for collective proceedings before the English Competition Appeal Tribunal alleging collusion between our client and other cryptocurrency exchanges.

A portfolio company of Bain Capital in high-profile litigation against the founder of an Australian childcare group in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, which included alleged breaches of director, fiduciary and contractual duties.

A global financial institution in an open class action before the Federal Court of Australia against it and five other financial institutions, alleging collusion between foreign exchange traders.
