He has extensive experience advising sponsors and lenders on energy and infrastructure projects in the US, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. He is at the forefront of A&O Shearman's work on energy transition and is currently advising on numerous low carbon hydrogen (H2) projects (including ammonia and methanol) as well as sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) projects. 

Ian has led numerous multi-sourced financings including ECAs, commercial banks, development finance institutions, multilaterals and Islamic financiers.
