A huge wave rises behind a pier and a lighthouse in a black and white image

With decades of on-the-ground experience, commercial insight and regional knowledge, we are at the forefront of the most significant developments in the industry.

We have an exceptional track record of delivering successful outcomes for our clients on the biggest and most complex power projects, transactions and disputes.

Deep expertise in regulation and public international law

Our transactional team is supported by lawyers with deep expertise in all areas of law and regulation relevant to the power sector, including environmental law, public international law, business and human rights, antitrust and tax.

Our worldwide portfolio of power projects includes the largest leveraged buyout of a U.S. energy company; multiple matters with independent power producers (IPPs) in Indonesia, independent water and power and producers (IWPPs) across the Middle East and North Africa region (including the first in the region to be structured using a mini-perm loan); the biggest private portfolio acquisition of power projects in China; and major renewables and nuclear power developments in the United Kingdom.

Our insight into the commercial imperatives of the power industry supports our work in power sector arbitration, where we work with clients across both the generation mix and development cycle.

We regularly represent clients in disputes involving power purchase agreements, construction contracts, joint venture agreements, regulatory matters, environmental claims, and expropriation and nationalization issues.

We have also advise on the resolution of cross-border disputes through mediation, expert determination and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
