  Javier Castresana



Javier focuses his practice on financial litigation, especially on restructuring and insolvency litigation. Javier has participated in a wide range of restructurings and insolvencies globally. He has taken part in major insolvency proceedings in Spain, such as Martinsa-Fadesa, Habitat, Mediapro, Nozar, Marsans, Noriega, Alteco-Mag Import or Aifos, with an active participation in all of them representing financial entities, and in the enforcement of securities and defence of derivative instruments within the context of a preinsolvency or insolvency.

Javier is also specialised in advising financial entities with regard to enforcement of financial collateral, standstill agreements, debt restructuring, Spanish Schemes and debt restructuring.

He has also wide experience on civil and commercial litigation. He also has represented clients in national and international arbitration proceedings, principally in commercial matters before both international and national arbitration courts such as the ICC Court of Arbitration and CIMA.
