Former A&O Partner appointed to General Counsel of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM)

07 June 2019

Allen & Overy congratulates former partner David Slade on his appointment  to General Counsel of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM).

Previous to his appointment, David was the Senior Partner of our Washington DC office. David was a partner at A&O for 23 years.

While Congress did reauthorize EXIM’s charter in December 2015, the board has lacked a quorum since that time, creating significant limitations on EXIM’s operations, such as prohibiting approval of any transactions greater than USD10m in value. EXIM has operated under these limitations for the past four years until the recent Senate vote on May 8. There are two more EXIM nominees that the Senate will consider in the upcoming months along with its vote to reauthorize the charter prior to September 30, 2019.

Allen & Overy has proudly served as a trusted legal advisor to EXIM for over two decades on numerous financings around the world. Based on this experience, our team can add value to any transaction with our unique familiarity and understanding of EXIM’s lending products and form documentation.
