Law Firm of the Year for A&O at the European Wind Investment Awards

06 November 2019

Allen & Overy took home the Law Firm of the Year award at the inaugural European Wind Investment Awards held in London on the 31st October 2019.

This win follows on from being recognised over the past year as Law Firm of the Year by IJGlobal and Project Finance International as well as Team of the Year by IFLR Europe for our work in the Projects, Energy and Infrastructure sectors. In addition, Infrastructure Investor named A&O as Global Law Firm of the Decade.

Partner Chris Andrew commented: “This is a great achievement for our renewables team. We closed more wind deals in Europe, across six different jurisdictions, than any other law firm in the past year. We strive to be the most innovative law firm advising a balanced mix of sponsors, lenders and government on complex wind projects in Europe and across the globe. This award demonstrates our commitment to the industry and we’d like to thank our clients for their continued support.”

A&O provides pioneering advice on the entire lifecycle of renewables assets, from the consenting and planning process, through to the construction, financing, operation, maintenance and ultimately their refinancing or sale. Since the beginning of  2018, A&O has successfully closed 20 wind deals valued at over USD18 billion such as the Hornsea 1 Offshore Wind Farm and East Anglia 1 acquisition and construction financings, the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm refinancing, the Mermaid & Seastar (Seamade) Offshore Wind portfolio financing and the refinancing of the Infinis and Zephyr portfolios.
