Global trends in merger control seminar takes place in London

As part of A&O's London client seminar programme we are hosting a client breakfast seminar on Global trends in merger control: Key insights on the impact of antitrust intervention on strategic M&A on Wednesday 24 May 2017, 8.30am-10am.

Antitust partners Jürgen Schindler and Dominic Long will lead the seminar which is aimed at GCs and in-house counsel at corporates, as well as antitrust contacts.

The seminar will discuss the impact on strategic M&A deals of the following trends:
  • Continued corporate willingness to engage in strategic in-market deals, with resulting further consolidation across a number of industries
  • Intervention of  antitrust authorities in significantly more transactions in 2016 than in 2015 (in 2016 over 31 transactions, with a total value of over EUR 69 billion, were frustrated (ie prohibited or  abandoned) globally due to antitrust concerns. In addition, at least 159 deals were subject to interference in the form of remedies).
  • Imposition of record fines on companies that failed to comply with merger control rules.
