Global Environmental Law Group launches international environmental legal survey

On December 7 our Global Environmental Law group together with the Global Law Intelligence Unit held a global environmental law conference to announce the launch of our international environmental legal survey which involved over one hundred law firms to rate the environmental regulatory restrictiveness of 137 jurisdictions. This is the first time key issues such as disclosure obligations or carbon emission controls have been analyzed on such a large scale and distilled in such a manner.

The two part event began with a presentation of the results of the global environmental law survey to the relationship firms who assisted with compiling the data for the survey. The second part, which also welcomed clients, addressed the results of the survey through two regional panels: one focusing on Europe, the CIS and Asia-Pacific led by partner Matthew Townsend, and the other focusing on the Americas and Africa led by partner Ken Rivlin. The event was a great success with over 80 clients from across the environment and energy sector, key corporates and banks, as well as our relationship firms in attendance, standing testament to the quality and breadth of the survey, and the commitment of our partner firms involved in producing the report.
