Allen & Overy hosts inaugural Leveraged Finance Training Camp for 21 major financial institutions

11 October 2017

Innovative client program brings together over 100 bankers for an intensive one-day training course

On October 17, 2017, Allen & Overy will host its first-ever Leveraged Finance Training Camp in New York.  This unique program, offered exclusively to A&O clients, will provide attendees with an in-depth look at leveraged finance transactions and related legal documentation through a series of presentations, panels, interviews and interactive sessions.

The course will cover both fundamentals and hot button issues as a means of enhancing the skill set and expertise of those in attendance.  It also brings together delegations from the leading sell-side financial institutions in the U.S. market under one roof, creating a forum for market participants and competitors to discuss market trends, industry challenges, recent developments and best practices.

“In this era of rapid change and regulatory uncertainty, navigating the Leveraged Finance space can be a challenging task even for seasoned financial professionals,” said Todd Koretzky, a partner in the firm’s New York Leveraged Finance group. “We designed this program to ensure our banking clients are fully supported with training and technical know-how from both a legal and practical standpoint.”

Led by Allen & Overy partners, the training sessions will cover a range of topics and scenarios including leveraged loans, high yield bonds, acquisition finance, commitment papers, credit documentation, capital structure and cross-border considerations. The goal of A&O’s intensive, one-day course is for the bankers in attendance to strengthen their grip on the concepts, documentation, terms and terminology relevant to the leveraged finance market.

In addition, a senior capital markets professional from a top-tier private equity firm will offer a different perspective on the state of the market, transaction execution and industry trends.

Philip Bowden, Co-Head of Allen & Overy’s Global Banking Practice, added: “The U.S. and European leveraged finance markets are as busy at the moment as I’ve ever seen them, with more and more players entering the market and unabated investor appetite. We’ve invested heavily in our U.S. leveraged finance capability and are pleased to be able to offer clients in New York such a comprehensive and useful training day at a key time for individuals working in this space.”

The client response has been enthusiastic, with the event receiving more than 150 nominations across a range of leveraged finance product and coverage areas from nearly two dozen U.S. and global financial institutions.
