Allen & Overy appoints Head of Advanced Delivery

22 January 2019

Allen & Overy has announced senior banking partner Andrew Trahair as the Head of Advanced Delivery, a grouping which comprises the firm’s advanced resourcing and technology capabilities.

Working to a common strategy, the group will boost collaboration across these areas and with its mainstream legal services and expertise. This will position the firm to accelerate the transformation of those services and the creation of new client solutions.

The Advanced Delivery group will integrate with other pioneering areas of the firm such as the Markets Innovation Group (which develops resource and technology enabled platforms and solutions for clients responding to large scale regulatory and market change), Consulting (the firm’s strategic advisory and consulting arm, which will enable the firm to meet client demand for broader high-quality bespoke business-focussed advice) and aosphere (the online cross border legal information subscription business).

The resourcing services included in the Advanced Delivery group are technology-enabled and comprise: the Legal Services Centre (providing high volume document review/production and other legal support), the eDiscovery team (offering document review and analysis services, mainly in the context of litigation and investigations), the Project Management Office (providing a proactive approach to managing matters that involves scoping, planning, budgeting, executing and reviewing) and Peerpoint (providing flexible legal resource).

Also included in the group are the Legal Technology Group (an innovation engine aimed at delivering the technology needed to drive client solutions and transform mainstream legal work) and Fuse (a collaborative tech innovation space where clients and Allen & Overy explore, develop and test legal, regulatory and deal-related solutions).

Andrew served as co-Head of the global Banking practice from 2008 to 2016 and was formerly managing partner of Allen & Overy’s Singapore office.

Allen & Overy has also appointed securitisation partner and co-Head of the global Financial Institutions Group Angela Clist as Head of the Legal Services Centre, to succeed Jane Townsend on her forthcoming retirement. Working alongside Allen & Overy offices globally, the Legal Services Centre provides lower cost and efficient solutions using a mixture of legal technology and lawyers either directly to clients or as part of an existing Allen & Overy deal team. It assists on a wide range of matters, including due diligence, litigation reviews, negotiations and research tasks.

Commenting on the appointments Global Senior Partner Wim Dejonghe said: "Advanced resourcing, technology and our client solution capabilities are core to the firm’s strategic vision. These senior appointments reflect the seriousness of our commitment to accelerate our level of investment in these areas."

Andrew Trahair added: "Allen & Overy is committed to innovation and we are widely recognised for being a market leader in advanced resourcing, technology and client solutions. Our Advanced Delivery group is part of our forward looking philosophy that allows us to align our expertise and tackle client challenges in a way that goes beyond what law firms have conventionally done."

Angela Clist said: "The Legal Services Centre has built a reputation for guaranteeing the standards that clients expect from Allen & Overy as well as developing expertise in a wide range of matters and activities. I look forward to building on the success of Jane’s work and evolving and transforming the Legal Services Centre so it can best meet the future needs of our business."
