Allen & Overy boosts its CEE dispute resolution practice with the hiring of leading English arbitration counsel Lucia Raimanová

Allen & Overy has announced that counsel Lucia Raimanová has been hired to join the CEE dispute resolution practice in Bratislava.

Lucia graduated from Vienna University in 2000 and started her career on a World Bank assignment as a junior advisor to the Slovak Government. Lucia has also studied at the London School of Economics and has a Diploma in International Arbitration (with Distinction) from the School of International Arbitration, Queen Mary, University of London. Lucia qualified as a solicitor with Allen & Overy London in 2006 and was admitted as a solicitor-advocate in 2011. She has also practiced in Allen & Overy's Moscow and Hong Kong offices.

Lucia specialises in international arbitration, with a particular focus on investment treaty arbitration and public international law. Lucia also has substantial experience in litigating arbitration-related matters before the Supreme Court of India. She has represented both corporates and governments in numerous disputes arising out of contracts and bilateral investment treaties, as well as the Energy Charter Treaty, across a wide range of sectors and under all the major arbitration rules. Lucia is frequently invited to speak at international events and contributes on arbitration-related topics to publications and the media. She is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has been recognised in Thomson Reuters SuperLawyers 2013 and 2014 as a "Rising Star" in Commercial Litigation.

Lucia will be based in our Bratislava office, where she will focus on the CEE arbitration market, as well as continue to work closely with Allen & Overy’s global arbitration practice.

Martin Magál, Head of CEE Dispute Resolution and a Partner at Allen & Overy Bratislava, comments: “We are very excited about Lucia's move to Bratislava to continue developing our growing commercial arbitration and investment treaty practice in CEE. Lucia has the perfect cultural and legal background for our practice. Having acted on some of the most interesting and challenging disputes out of our London office, she will bring unrivalled experience and skills to Central Europe. Working out of Bratislava, she will closely co-operate with our dispute resolution colleagues in Prague, Warsaw, Budapest and Bucharest, as well as handle cases in co-operation with our relationship firms in South Eastern Europe and the Baltics.”
