As the antitrust and regulatory regime in China continues to evolve, A&O is seeing increasing demand from international clients for advice in this area. Charles’ appointment will boost our capabilities across Greater China and Asia. Antonio Bavasso, co-head of the global Antitrust practice, says: “As a result of the increasing importance of China for our clients and the proliferation of merger and non-merger matters, we have decided to bolster our capabilities in Beijing as part of a significant investment in the region and a demonstration of our commitment to growing our practice there.”

Victor Ho, head of Beijing, Corporate, says: “We are delighted to welcome Charles to our top-tier team to work alongside Franҫois Renard. With Charles and Franҫois we will be able to take our capability to the next level by offering the highest quality and depth of antitrust advice, particularly where China-related antitrust issues are taking on increased gravity and importance for our clients.”

Charles Pommiès will support the China antitrust team, currently comprised of counsel Franҫois Renard, senior antitrust adviser Jie Tong and new junior associate Liwei Wang. He will also assist Sydney-based partner Peter McDonald and team representing clients across the Asia Pacific region.
