Senior Associate

Julia advises on all aspects of German and EU competition law, including cartels, German and EU merger control, competition law aspects of distribution contracts and joint ventures, internal investigations and antitrust compliance. 
Her clients originate from various sectors, such as automotive, private equity, (re-)insurance, chemicals or aircraft-manufacturing sector. She possesses special expertise in antitrust litigation, in particular through her work as a defendant’s attorney in a large European and national cartel follow-on damage case. Julia also has experiences in the field of international antitrust law through her doctoral thesis.

Representative matters

Scania on defense of follow-up claims for damages in the "truck cartel" case. This is the largest private enforcement (follow-on) damages case in Germany to date, with over six hundred lawsuits pending.

Advent on the acquisition of the Engineering Materials business from DSM with LANXESS and on the establishment of a joint venture for engineering and high-performance polymers in a in €3.7bn deal.

The defence of a global pharmaceutical and healthcare company on a pan-European litigation campaign (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands) brought by a direct competitor. The antitrust based defence grounds eventually led to a withdrawal of all actions across Europe against our client.
