Arun advises on commercial and investment treaty arbitration as well as arbitration-related court proceedings.

He specialises in India-related disputes but also has considerable experience involving other jurisdictions such as England & Wales, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and various European countries. He has acted on high profile arbitrations in the banking, private equity, energy, mining, infrastructure, automobiles and digital sectors (amongst others) under a variety of arbitration rules and substantive governing laws. Arun has advocacy experience, having made legal submissions and cross-examined expert witnesses before international arbitral tribunals.

Arun trained in the firm’s London office and spent over six years in Hong Kong before relocating to London in 2022. He maintains a strong network of contacts in the Asia Pacific region, with a strong focus on India. In 2021, the India Business Law Journal recognised him as “a very hardworking young lawyer with an eye for detail” based on feedback from the legal counsel of an Indian blue-chip company. He is a frequent speaker at arbitration conferences and serves as a Steering Committee member of the Young Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration (YMCIA). He is a regular commentator on Indian arbitration law and an Associate Editor of the Indian Review of International Arbitration. An active member of the firm’s India Group, Arun has participated in several pro-bono and training initiatives in India and elsewhere.

Prior to joining the firm, Arun gained experience in different parts of the Indian legal system, including the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court, and worked with a number of Indian senior advocates, judges, law firms and non-governmental human rights organisations.

Preparing a report for the Hong Kong Equal Opportunities Commission on the impact of Hong Kong legislation and government policies on voluntary relationships between couples in legally unrecognised or less recognised relationships.

Partnering with the Schools Consent Project for training on consent and sexual offences to school students in the United Kingdom.

Screening applicants and mentoring selected candidates for the firm’s internship opportunities for Indian legal scholars in collaboration with Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access (IDIA).

Delivering annual training on international arbitration to students at various Indian National Law Universities.
