Legal Professional Assistant (Legal PAs)

 

The role of a Legal PA at Allen & Overy, is exciting, challenging and rewarding.  Working alongside the leading lawyers Allen & Overy recognises that Legal PAs are an important part of the team. Know-how

 
Our commitment to excellence and our knowledge-sharing ethos is reflected in our approach to the development of our people.  Our Know-how team works closely with our lawyers to equip them with the resources and skills to respond effectively and efficiently to client needs, both on- and off-deal.  The team works to increase the awareness of best practice in knowledge management so that all staff can become more adept at creating, sharing and capturing know-how. 

Our Know-how professionals also work alongside our training team to ensure that our staff have access to local and international learning and development programs which not only focus on areas required to maintain a successful business but also lay the foundations of personal career-long development. 
 

Paralegals


In order to provide a seamless service Allen & Overy currently employs a number of paralegals. As a paralegal at Allen & Overy, you will play an instrumental role in the mechanics of the legal process and form an important part of the team alongside our partners, lawyers and graduates. Your main focus will be to deliver a first class service to them as your internal clients, and thereby gain a valuable insight into the workings of a large legal practice.

The majority of our paralegals have been our summer clerks from a prior summer. However, where business needs require we also seek to recruit lateral paralegals. Paralegals are usually completing their Law degree (ideally in 3rd or 4th year). and they are employed on a casual basis generally from 1 to 3 days per week during university semester. No formal paralegal qualifications are necessary but you should be able to demonstrate strong academic results, good attention to detail, enthusiasm and self-motivation.

Information Technology

 

Allen & Overy relies on the quality of its advanced IT services and systems, and on the dedication of its highly professional IT staff.

Our IT support officers and trainers are responsible for providing technical support and providing computer training to all staff. The IT team closely communicates and works with other offices.  We offer first-rate support and training and the opportunities associated with working for a global legal practice, such as working in one of our other offices.

Finance


As with all our shared services functions, the Finance Department is a key component in driving the business forward and our  team comprises a group of  talented finance professionals. Allen & Overy is committed to providing training and development for Shared Services staff through both direct experience and formal training programs.

Business Services

 
The Business Services Department covers a very wide variety of disciplines both locally and internationally. Across all areas, we seek to achieve the highest level of service and support for our internal customers and our clients. This is achieved by recruiting and retaining the best people. Business Services includes document production, print room, reception and front of house, mail room, catering, property projects, procurement and stationery, and security / health & safety. 

A career in Business Services is indeed varied, challenging and very satisfying. 
 

Business Development and Marketing

 
The Business Development and Marketing department provide a global capability of effective, co-ordinated and decisive advice. In order to achieve this we require high quality support for Allen & Overy's activities.

As with all our shared services functions,  Business Development is a key component in driving the business forward and enhancing our reputation for excellence and innovation.
 

Human Resources 

 

Providing a full Human Resources service to our partners, lawyers and shared services staff is a vital part of our business. The HR function at Allen & Overy Australia plays an important strategic and facilitating role in attracting, motivating, developing and retaining the best possible quality lawyers and staff at all levels.
