Projects in Germany

Project finance continues to be one of the firm's principal practices in Germany. The team regularly advises banks, sponsors, construction companies and governments. Our Frankfurt-based team is very much at the forefront of advising on all types of project finance, in all sectors, including public private partnerships/public finance initiatives (PPP/PFI) projects. We are particularly active in infrastructure, construction, telecommunications, energy and water projects. The projects team is supported by our experienced finance practice and a highly regarded German public and administrative law practice.

Insight

As governments around the world grapple with an estimated USD71 trillion bill for new infrastructure between now and 2030, Allen & Overy has today launched a Global Guide to Public Private Partnerships (PPP) highlighting the key issues for the growing number of governments using PPP projects as a delivery method.
On 3 April the German legislature passed a bill to amend the Financial Markets Stabilisation Act and to provide a legal basis for the nationalisation of financial institutions affected by the global financial crisis. The Financial Markets Stabilisation Amendment Act (FMSAA) will come into force after publication, presumably in a matter of days.
